Students in the Sewanhaka-Central High School District and Herricks High School will join the rest of New York State tomorrow when they sit down to take the Regents Exams. This statewide series of exams has a long lead up of stressing, practicing and more stressing. Here are five last minute ways to keep your cool and boost your grades:

1. You may think studying closer to the time of the test means you'll remember more, but studies show cramming does not work. If you want the grades, study early and pace yourself. Also, exam questions often rotate, so check Regents Prep books and websites, like RegentsPrep.org.

2. Did you know basil boosts brainpower? Taking a deep breath from the bottle in the spice cabinet has been found to invigorate, relax, and de-stress.

3. According to CNN.com, certain foods can improve the mind. Blackberries, apples, chocolate, cinnamon and salmon are all "brain foods," so convince your parents to work them into meals.

4. No all-nighters! Teens need between 8 1/2 and 9 1/4 hours of sleep per night or they risk limited concentration and ability to listen (which won't help you during the listening comprehension part of the English exam).
