Stolen Medical Equipment Recovered in New Hyde Park

Doctor’s 55-year old business partner charged in theft.

Nassau County Police have recovered medical supplies and a liposuction machine stolen from a Great Neck Office from storage in New Hyde Park.

According to detectives from the sixth precinct, the supplies and liposuction machine were reported stolen by the 70 year old male victim on January 4 from his doctor’s office on Northern Boulevard in Great Neck.

Three days later, the victim reported a deposit of approximately $6,100 into his business account that he knew didn’t belong there.

The investigation led to the arrest of the victim’s business partner, Mitchell D. Brandt, 55, of Boca Raton, Florida. The defendant was arrested without incident at 12:45am on February 10.

The additional funds were from three separate checks stolen from two physicians located in Great Neck and Roslyn.

Brandt is charged with second and third degree grand larceny and first degree defraud. He will be arraigned in First District Court on Saturday, February 11.
