The Herricks Indo-US Community had its annual Navrati festival at Herricks High School on Oct. 1. Legis. Wayne Wink, Legis. Judi Bosworth, Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman were present.
Bosworth presented the group with a citation and said in a statement, "It is an honor for me to recognize and participate in these spectacular celebrations dedicated to the Hindu Mother Goddess and symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The Herricks Indo-US Community has taken an active role in enabling its members to understand better the workings of the school system, to participate in it and to enhance communication between members and the community at large."
