Rally Day at the Garden City Community Church provided great
start to the new Church School year. Students,
parents, teachers, musicians and ministers all reunited after the summer to learn about the Bible and form new
The Adult Choir sang "Praises to God" as they processed into the sanctuary. The senior pastor, the Reverend Jim Adelmann gave a sermon entitled, "Come and See What God is Doing," which is the theme for this year. This theme invites the congregation to see God more clearly through greater involvement in Jesus’ ministries of caring for the poor and those in need of any kind. It is also an invitation to potential church members to come and experience the wonderful things God is doing in our midst.
The Church School Processional followed with 75 children marching behind a colorful banner. A "Prayer of Blessing" was said for the students, teachers and the congregation.
"It is wonderful to see so many young families coming to church and enrolling their children in our Church School. We have a full staff of dedicated teachers and an excellent curriculum to teach from. More than that, we have a great family of faith working together to build a loving, caring and vibrant community of Christ in this place," said the Rev. Jim Adelmann.
A festive picnic was held after church in the playground area, sponsored by the Board of Membership, Life and Development (MLD). Fun fellowship activities were organized by the Board of Christian Education.
Paul Birkenstock, chairman of MLD gave thanks to the volunteers who made Rally Day a big success. "We had great weather, the chili/onion dogs were amazing and everyone had a great time. The kids were playing and the parents were sharing stories. Everyone hung around and enjoyed themselves," he stated.
Residents are reminded that it’s not too late to sign up for Church School if families would like to attend the church. All are welcome.
