Community Corner

Bites Nearby: The Sundae Palace

This shop on Jericho Turnpike is chock full of chocolate.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, New Hyde Park Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Sundae Palace

As the royal abode for all of the community’s chocolate-covered desires, The Sundae Palace has been supplying chocolate to households, businesses and bakeries for over 30 years.

Owned by three sisters -- Aurora, Maria and Gina Masi -- The Sundae Palace is the sole chocolate shop in New Hyde Park and one of only a few in the Nassau County/Queens area.

The shop specializes in customized favors and centerpieces, making artful, edible creations for every occasion. Popular requests include their hand-dipped strawberries and fruit baskets and personalized chocolate pops, featuring intricate color and detail.

The Sundae Palace is also known for their assortment of handmade gourmet chocolates. Chocolate covered pretzels, dark chocolate covered caramel with sea salt, chocolate covered yellow cake and truffles are all customer favorites.

For those interested in making their own chocolate, The Sundae Palace sells all of the supplies that you need, from melting chocolate wafers to molds.

“We have a tremendous variety of molds…probably the largest variety that you’ll find for any occasion,” said Aurora.

With all of their chocolate being gluten, dairy, nut and soy free, The Sundae Palace is an allergy friendly store. Aurora notes, “You can get a nut-free chocolate Easter bunny, which is not readily available anywhere else.”

Speaking of which, chocolate bunny season is right around the corner. During the holiday, The Sundae Palace sells at least one thousand Easter pops to walk-in customers alone.
