Editor's Notebook: I'll See You Around

Thank you to all those people who helped me cover New Hyde Park.

How fast a year goes by.

Nearly 12 months ago, I began this job as New Hyde Park Patch editor and the task of getting to know the community. From then until now it's been a whirlwind of stories, starting with the 's and the New Hyde Park Veterans Day commemoration. This year's ceremony will be the last event I cover as New Hyde Park Patch editor; I will be heading to another publication.

After joining Patch, I was embraced by members of the New Hyde Park community who took me in as one of their own. I've worked hard to provide New Hyde Park with relevant news and information and so that I could consider myself part of the New Hyde Park fabric.

From covering my first fire in February where to seeing the impact it had on the area and the community's response through a , I've seen the outpouring of concern and the desire to help that often comes from people in New Hyde Park.

The size of New Hyde Park's heart is also evident through groups such as the , which helps raise money for children in need.

Being part of this community also means being part of the local schools and their sports teams. I covered my first game at Patch and enjoyed following many of the teams at .

Thank you for helping me; it's been a pleasure working in New Hyde Park. I look forward to seeing New Hyde Park Patch flourish with 's reporting.

I'm sure I'll see many of you around town as I continue to participate in the and take part in other events around the area. Thanks again for welcoming me into the community, providing me with information and allowing me to be part of New Hyde Park.
