Get Out! New Hyde Park's Weekend Planner for April 15-17

Pick and choose from this weekend's variety of events.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.


Where/When: Nassau County Museum of Art; Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Why Go: To view the work of Russian artists, among them Dmitry Moor, El Lissitzky and Viktor Deni.
Pricing: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62+) and $4 for students and children (4-12). Admission includes entrance to the Art Space for Children. There's a $2 parking fee on weekends.


Where/When: Nassau Community College; Sunday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Why Go: An interesting conference with 14 speakers discussing various topics, such as American Catholic ethnic groups and social Catholicism; the concept of evil in Christian literature; the political responsibilities of the Catholic; and key saints recognized in the Catholic tradition.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: LICM; Saturday and Sunday, 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Why Go: Your kids are welcome to make a mess somewhere other then your own house.
Pricing: $3 with museum admission. General Admission: $10, Seniors over 65: $9, Members: free, Children under one-years-old: free.



Where/When: The Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island; Sunday, 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Why Go: The fourth annual Teen Art, Music, and Poetry Festival will raise funds for Ethical Friends of Children, an outreach program that helps families in financial need by providing them with baby and children's clothes, diapers, cribs, and other items.
Pricing: The event is free, but there is a suggested donation of $5 or a baby item (such as diapers, formula, or clothing).


Where/When: Great Neck Library; Sunday, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Why Go: Elizabeth Schmidt, poet and editor, will talk about her new book The Poets Laureate Anthology. There will be refreshments and a book sale/signing to follow.
Pricing: Free.
