Get Out! New Hyde Park's Weekend Planner for April 29 - May 1

There is quilting, high-end clothing sale and bicycle safety. Pick and choose from this weekend's array of events.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.


Where/When: , Friday, 6:45 p.m.
Why Go: Join Karen Gulotta for an adult craft to take home and adorn your door or wall.
Pricing: Free to library cardholders.


Where/When: Garvies Point Museum & Preserve; Friday, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Why Go: The film is about the history of the Yahi Indians of California. The sole Yahi survivor, Ishi, wandered into modern civilization. Taken in by the University of California's Museum of Anthropology, this film documents his ancestry, and the Yahi tradition.
Pricing: $2, children ages five through 12; $3, adults and teenagers; those under five years of age are admitted free when accompanied by a parent.


Where/When: ; Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday,1 p.m.-4p.m.
Why Go: The Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club gymnasium will host an elegant designer sale, offering high-end women’s clothing and accessories. Brands include Chanel, Armani, Ferragamo and many more. The sale also offers new and donated costume jewelry, gift items, belts, hats, accessories, scarves and handbags.


Where/When: ; Saturday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Why Go: Hosted by the New Hyde Park-Floral Park Kiwanis, kids can bring their bikes down to Village Hall to get them tagged for free, get information on safety and maintenance and enter to win fun giveaways. Old bikes can be donated to Kiwanis, who will make repairs and give them to others in need.


Where/When: North Flushing Swim Club; Sunday, 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
Why Go: Attend this event and get a glimpse at the World of Discovery Summer Day Camp, where children will build new skills and confidence, discover new things and make new friends.
