Get Out! New Hyde Park's Weekend Planner for August 19-21

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.



Where/When: Cupcake Corner; Friday at 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Why Go: A fun, Disney-themed party based on the story of Aladdin and Jasmine for kids ages three and older. There will be appearances by the characters and the event includes lunch, crafts, games and dancing. Pricing: $35 per child.



Where/When: ; Friday at 1 p.m. Why Go: A workshop for kids ages three and up with bird watching and family fun where you design your own family birdhouse using wood pieces, bright paint and other exciting materials. Pricing: $4 with museum admission ($3 LICM members); General Admission: $11; Seniors 65+: $10; Members: FREE; Children under 1: FREE


Where/When: ; Friday at 8 p.m. Why Go: Comedian/actor/musician, Jim Breuer, plays live at Mulcahy's with his Heavy Metal Family Tour. Pricing: $12-15 per person.


Where/When: ; Sunday at 11 a.m. Why Go: The Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island hosts an open house for new and prospective members of all ages. Programs include Sunday morning meetings, mid-week discussions, and volunteer opportunities in the community.


Where/When: ; Sunday at 12 p.m. Why Go: Identity Fest is an electronic-only music festival with well-known DJs and live performers playing all day. Pricing: Ticket prices start at $85.
