Get Out! New Hyde Park's Weekend Planner for July 29-31

Science, Summer Safety and Somethin' Fresh. Pick and choose from this weekend's array of events.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.


Where/When: ; Friday at 11 a.m. Why Go: Join Johnda and learn to play games from around the world. Pricing: Free to library cardholders.


Where/When: American Red Cross; Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Why Go: Children ages 5-12 can join the American Red Cross and learn summer safety, with information about water safety, fire safety, basic first aid and preparation in the event of a disaster. There will also be face painting, interactive trivia, video games and a scavenger hunt. Pricing: $5 per person.


Where/When: Jericho Tpke & Lakeville Rd, New Hyde Park, NY 11040; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Why Go: In addition to a good ‘ole car wash, there will also be a lemonade stand, snacks and a bottled water barrel. All proceeds raised from the fundraiser will go to support summer youth group events and church expenses. Pricing: Suggested donation: $5-$10 per vehicle.

Pricing: $15 for all Nassau County Residents; Parking Sticker for the season available for $40 for all Nassau County residents and $25 for seniors, handicapped, veterans and volunteer firefighters with proper identification.
