Hillside Public Library Notebook: Dec. 15

Here are the highlights from the meeting.

If you missed Thursday's board meeting, here are some of the highlights:

  • The gutter has been repaired and has a five-year warranty on it, Director Charlene Noll said. The repairs cost about $12,000.
  • Next year is the fifth year the library has been in its current location. In honor of Pam Pursino, a former library board member who passed away, the library is going to have a yearly event in her memory starting next year. The first event will be on March 9 and involve Beatles music, which Noll said seemed to suit the kind of person Pursino was.
  • The library will also be honoring former employee Patty Chin who passed away. In her memory, there will be a Chinese cultural program on Jan. 27 and a dinner for the library staff and Chin's family. A collection of science fiction books will also be dedicated to her.
  • The next board meeting is Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
