Little Paws Meet Santa Claus

New Hyde Park Animal Hospital let animals take photos with Santa for charity.

Santa Claus stopped by the New Hyde Park Animal Hospital on Sunday and a photo with him helped raise money for the Guide Dog Foundation in Smithtown.

The New Hyde Park Animal Hospital decided to have this charity event after its sister office, the Mineola Animal Hospital, had previously held this kind of event.

"Most animals are a little scared about coming in here and potentially getting shots," explained Joanna Wilkerson, a receptionist at the animal hospital, "so it's nice to just take photos of them."

Seven animals came to get their photo taken Sunday.

"The rain put a little damper on [the number of people who came]," Wilkerson said, "but we're still having fun taking photos."

Jessica Ewen, a veterinary assistant, hopes the hospital will do it again next year. "It gets everyone in the holiday spirit and it's fun," she said.

Both Ewen and Wilkerson came in on their day off to help out with the photos.
