VIDEO: New Hyde Park Girl Scout Hosts Food Allergy Seminar
Marisa Pugliese stages food allergy fair as part of Gold Award project.
New Hyde Park Girl Scout Marisa Pugliese, a senior at New Hyde Park Memorial High School, held a “food allergy jamboree” at the small gym at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Wednesday night in support of helping those with various food allergies find some healthy alternatives to everyday food items.
She held the food fair as part of her Gold Award project, equivalent to Eagle Scout Status for the Boy Scouts, providing those who arrived with a chance to sample foods that are gluten free, lactose free, dairy free, peanut free and other allergen-sensitive foods in addition to a scavenger hunt for other young students.
