New Hyde Park Girl Scouts Collect Donations and Serve Soup in Rockaways

Cadettes Julia Gordon and Valentina Baumann distribute donations to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Girl Scout Cadettes Julia Gordon and Valentina Baumann recently collected donations in New Hyde Park and from Holy Spirit Church along with supplies donated by Jetro and brought them to St. Francis DeSales Church in the Rockaways to distribute to victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The donations were greatly appreciated by the families and the items were very much needed, especially all baby items, blankets, food and supplies, which were quickly taken.

Julia and Valentina also served soup to the families all day donated by Mama Soup in Mineola.

The girls were shocked by the devastation and ruined homes caused by Hurricane Sandy and were very happy to serve and help the families by giving them soup and items that they needed.

They also met Chelsea Clinton who came to donate items to the families.
