New Hyde Park Native Honored at Nassau Sports Commission Dinner

Richard "Big Daddy" Salgado receives award of excellence.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano honored New Hyde Park native Richard “Big Daddy” Salgado with the Award of Excellence last Tuesday at the Nassau County Sports Commission’s Annual “Salute to Champions” Awards Dinner.

Established in 1992, the Nassau County Sports Commission (NCSC) is dedicated to advancing the development of youth, amateur and professional sports on every level. The commission established the “Salute to Champions” as a way to recognize elite student athletes and coaches in Nassau County. This program continued to develop over the years as the event was expanded to include new awards such as the creation of the Nassau County Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.

In 1998 Salgado formed Coastal Advisors, providing disability, life insurance and estate planning. In the last 6 years he has signed 35 first-round picks in the NFL and  “become a household name among athletes mainly because of the relationships he builds with his clients,” County Executive Ed Mangano said in a statement. “In addition to his tireless work ethic, Rich also does an unimaginable amount of fundraising for philanthropic efforts. I am proud to present the Award of Excellence to Rich and to thank him for all of his efforts.”
