New Hyde Park Resident Wins $250,000 in Mega Millions

Abraham Thomas will be able to go on a bit of a spending spree now.

The New York Lottery announced on Tuesday that the New Hyde Park resident had won $250,002 playing the Mega Millions on August 31.

Thomas purchased the winning ticket at 79-07 Express News at 79-07 Main St. in Flushing, Queens.

The winning numbers for the August 31 drawing were 31, 40, 41, 47 and 48 with 45 being the Mega Ball.

In order to win the $250,000 second-place prize, Thomas had to get all five regular numbers correct. The odds of receiving the payout was 3,904,701 to 1.

Another New Hyde Park resident had won a $10,000 payout the week before.
