New Hyde Park to Hold 2013 St. Baldrick’s Day Tuesday

Various members of the Nassau Police Third Precinct to have heads shaved for charity.

The Nassau County Police Third Precinct will hold its fifth annual St. Baldrick’s Day on Tuesday, April 2 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Marcus Christ Hall.

The event is an annual fundraiser for childhood cancer in which residents are sponsored to have their heads shaved in solemnity with those children undergoing cancer treatment. Those having their heads shaved are asked to both contribute $50 and to gather sponsors for more fundraising.

In New Hyde Park the event has , including $35,000 from the 2012 event alone.

The volunteers being shaved range in age from 6-60 and also include numerous members of the Nassau County Police Department Third Precinct, including Inspector Sean McCarthy.

The event will also include refreshments and raffle prizes.
