You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 12:30 p.m. through 1 p.m.
Why Go: The kids will love listening to stories and making creative art projects.

Where/When: Dome Theater; Wednesday through Tuesday with various shows 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why Go: Playing this week: Legends of Flight, Sharks and Grand Canyon
Pricing: $10, Adults; $8, Child/Seniors.


Where/When:; Friday, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Why Go: Teens can socialize with others teens in their community.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: ; Saturday, 2:30 p.m. through 4 p.m.
Why Go: Does you child have the acting bug? The William Gill Jr. Theatre is holding auditions for young actors ages nine through 18.
Pricing: Free – (only for New Hyde Park residents).
