Petition Started to Keep Services at Glen Cove Hospital
Glen Cove Mayor Ralph Suozzi has created an online petition to oppose changes to Glen Cove Hospital. North Shore-LIJ announced Tuesday that it aims to phase out inpatient bed services while also expanding ambulatory surgery center, medical offices, outpatient cancer services, a community health and outreach center, and physical therapy and rehabilitation.
The petition says, "Please join us as we urge North Shore - LIJ Health System to postpone and reconsider their plans to tranform Glen Cove Hospital into an Ambulatory Care Only Hospital.  The closing or downsizing of a community hospital has countless negative effects on the immediate and surrounding communities."
