NHP Baptist Church Welcomes Pastor Zaspel

Avid writer, blogger, and now senior interim pastor.

Pastor Fred G. Zaspel, who has been pastoring since 1982, held his first service as interim senior pastor at on Nov. 13.

Before his resignation, Gary Scott, the previous senior pastor at NHPBC, asked Zaspel if he could help the church in its transition time. The church also asked, and Zaspel agreed.

Since March Zaspel has preached for the congregation as he was able, and has now committed to the church for a year; preaching, teaching, and providing leadership. Zaspel is a second generation pastor, but his parents did not have to push him toward gospel ministry.

“[My goal is to] give a voice for God to others who need it as badly as we do," said Zaspel.

Zaspel was born in Chicago, and in his leisure time enjoys boating and jet skiing with his family.  He has a B.A. in Bible Studies, an M.A. in Pastoral Studies, both an M.A. and a Th.M. in New Testament and a Ph.D. in Theology. He is also a book reviewer and an avid blogger at various websites, including Credo Magazine. He is also the author of four small booklets and two major books, with a third one being released this February.

“I am doing what I love,” admits Zaspel. “In pastoring, teaching, and writing.”

Pastor Zaspel also shares a ministry in Pennsylvania, where he resides with his wife, Kim. He has two children, both in their mid to late 20's. He is also an adjunct professor of Systematic Theology at Calvary Baptist Seminary in Lansdale, PA.  He travels every weekend to NHPBC, then returns to Pennsylvania during the week.

The NHPBC parsonage is available to him to help his weekend stays here. His plan for NHPBC is to work together in effort to always improve every area and dimension of the ministry for Christ. He expressed his excitement for a new beginning at the church.
