Nor'Easter Pours Snow in Post-Sandy Wounds: Upload Your Photos

Nor'easter drops more than 6 inches of snow in Malverne, West Hempstead and Lynbrook.

Mother Nature poured snow into the wounds of a battered Long Island Wednesday, just nine days after Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the East Coast.

By Thursday morning, Malverne, West Hempstead and Lynbrook were blanketed with more than six inches of snow. The snowfall created picturesque scenes but it also weighed heavily on tree branches that were already weakened by last week's tropical storm and power lines, knocking out the electricity to area homes who had just had their power restored after waiting days in the dark after Sandy.

The dangerous conditions created by the storm shut down schools in Malverne, West Hempstead and Lynbrook, which had already missed six to eight days of class during the past week and a half due to Sandy.

Why do I get the sense power was never close to be turned on in Malverne before the Nor'easter?
