The residents, patients and staff of Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation remained safe and comfortable throughout the landfall and aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Parker’s programs and services continue to operate normally.
“The dedication of Parker’s staff, combined with years of careful, emergency planning and preparedness drills, to empower Parker, literally, to weather the storm,” Parker President and CEO Michael N. Rosenblut said in a statement.
In addition to taking care of its own residents and patients, Parker responded to requests for assistance in New York City and Nassau County. The facility is caring for 18 evacuees from the Shore View Nursing Home in Brooklyn and 19 evacuees from the Komanoff Center for Geriatrics and Rehabilitation Medicine in Long Beach.
As was the case during last year's Hurricane Irene, Parker's medical transportation division, Lakeville Ambulette Transportation, LLC, and its staff, provided assistance to many displaced by Hurricane Sandy.
