Pet of the Week: Truffle

This dog in the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter is looking for a home.

Truffle has been described by the animal shelter workers as one of their biggest success stories. When Truffle first came to the shelter, she was scared of just about everything because of what she experienced prior to the shelter. But after working with the people at the animal shelter, Truffle began to shake less and less when she exited her cage.

This pitbull is now taking treats from people gently, playing with toys and performing many of her obedience commands, the Town of North Hempstead shelter said.

Visit Truffle and other dogs at the shelter at 75 Marino Avenue in Port Washington. The shelter is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and  Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about the adoption process, call 944-8220 or check out their website at theshelterconnection.com.
