Question of the Day: Memorial Day

What's the difference between this holiday and Veterans Day?

Some people may confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day as both honor those who have served in the military.

Do you know what distinguishes Memorial Day from Veterans Day?

Memorial Day is to honor the fallen. Veterans Day honors those that live and serve or have served. The holiday started as Decoration Day after the Civil War to honor the Union and Confederate soldiers and sailors who had died fighting that war. Later on, after more wars, the govt. changed it to Memorial Day to honor all fallen Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen who have died fighting to protect our Country's interests.
