Shopping for Irene in New Hyde Park

Here's how some local residents are preparing for the storm.

On a day like Friday, you would not think there is a hurricane headed our way. However, the latest reports from the National Hurricane Center are predicting there is an 80-percent probability of seeing Irene closer than we would like. 

When New Hyde Park Patch spoke to local residents they had mixed feelings on the storm and different plans of how to prepare.
