Young Indian Culture Group holds a medley of classes every Saturday at Herricks Middle School.

This past Saturday the Herricks Middle School played host to a different sort of class and courseload as was children and parents bustled about the building’s halls being taught dance moves by the Young Indian Culture Group (YICG).

The YICG was formed in 1994 when Executive Director Rathi Raja, President Urmila Shivaram, Treasurer Vasundhara Sureka and Secretary Runi Ratnam came together in order to create a more structural basis for celebrating Indian culture.

The YICG selected the as a place to begin teaching classes at because they felt their non-profit organization needed to have a strong community basis behind it to thrive and fulfill its purpose of spreading the Indian culture throughout the community, getting as many people as possible involved.
