Superstorm not sinking spirits as locals, media highlight the recovery one year after the hurricane.
Superstorm Sandy swamped homes, flooded neighborhoods and toppled millions of trees across the area, but as locals reflect on the disaster, a slogan for the recovery has emerged: #StrongIsland.
Island locals took to social media Tuesday morning to share their stories of recovery, one year after Sandy, and used to hashtag to rally one another and celebrate the spirit that has helped the region heal after being dealt such devastation by a natural disaster.
