Trying to Keep Christ In Christmas

The Knight of Columbus hosted a sing along Friday night.

The in New Hyde Park had their 15th annual sing along Friday evening. Members and non-members listened to Victor Cunneen sing carols such as Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Blue Christmas.

Grand Knight Patrick Crosson said that the group's mission during the holidays is to "Keep Christ in Christmas." The Knights created magnets with that phrase on it and that phrase is also on a sign outside of the group's headquarters on Marcus Avenue.

"It's Christ's birthday," Crosson said, adding, "that's what's most important."

Past Grand Knight Bill McDonald explained that events such as the sing along are important to this "aging community" because the Knights are always looking for new members, particularly as their current members get older.

"This is a way of getting to know people and a way of people getting to know the Knights," McDonald explained.
