On Friday Night, November 11, 2011 The Dublin Pub in New Hyde Park will be transformed into the base of operations for one of the most celebrated Veterans Days of the Century, 11/11/11, where one of Long Island' s biggest Wounded Warrior Project fundraising events of the year will take place.
The Wounded Warrior Project is a nationwide, non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness and funds for our nation's true heroes: our injured veterans returning home from the Middle East. The event, co-sponsored by The Dublin Pub and Jim Bevers, offers an incredible night of live music, dancing, fun and an opportunity to connect firsthand with the wounded military heroes who will be present.
The spectacular event will include 6 and 1/2 hours of continuous music from 2 bands with dance and party music from the 60's through the 90's, as well as some original compositions. Vertical Sunrise will open the evening playing their original music, followed by Soul Doctor Robert Goebel's Musicians For American Veterans In Need Band . This musical ensemble includes 20 talented musicians hailing from Long Island's biggest bands, merged into a master group.

All of these amazing musicians volunteer their time and talents to help raise both money for and consciousness of the pain and suffering many of our servicemen and women experience as they return home from the ravages of battle. Our veteran warriors, many who are amputees, endured permanent life changing injuries. Virtually all suffer some degree of post-traumatic stress disorder which leaves them unable to acclimate back to their daily lives. Intensive assistance is required to help these exceptional friends, neighbors and citizens acclimate to a normal life. The statistics are staggering and the government is not doing enough to help. Much of the assistance these young men and women need come from groups like the WWP here on Long Island . With one suicide every 36 hours and thousands of male and female veterans living on the street after they return, our support is desperately needed. That's where the Wounded Warrior Project steps in. By organizing and hosting highly visible public events, the project acquires both recognition of the warriors' special needs and the resources necessary to help them to once again be productive members of their communities and live their lives in a meaningful way.
The doors open at 6:30pm. Vertical Sunrise starts at 7 p.m., when the music begins. There will be 6 1/2 straight hours of live music, and dancing.
