First Summer Concert Brings Bon Jovi Tribute to Memorial Park

This concert was sponsored by Maspeth Federal Savings.

Memorial Park was filled with people in lawn chairs and on blankets as well as children and families playing kickball, softball and just playing around on Wednesday evening when Bon Jovi tribute band Slippery When Wet came to town.

This concert was sponsored by Maspeth Federal Savings; the first concert in New Hyde Park has been sponsored by this group for several years.

Village Trustee Donald Barbieri called this concert "a great way to start the July 4th weekend."

Head of the Village's Cultural Commission Lisa Miranda noted that the Village tends to do well with tribute band concerts. There was recently concerts from Rod Stewart and Elton John tribute bands.

All of the band members are from New Jersey and Slippery When Wet started about 10 years ago after singer Mike Parks was told and teased that he looks like Bon Jovi.
