Poll: What's Your Favorite Christmas Music?

Do you stick with the traditional numbers or prefer something newer?

Although the early December weather has been unseasonably warm, the holidays are undeniably drawing closer.  Many New Hyde Park shops and restaurants have a rotation of music to get customers in the spirit.

So we're asking you, what is your favorite holiday song? Is it a popular tune, such as Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You"? Or do you like traditional music?  Is holiday music not for you? Tell us in the comments and cast a vote in our poll.

You left out "O Holy Night' -- The Mario Lanza version; my personal fave.

I'd have pegged you for a "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" kind of guy. Emmanuel's my favorite.

Pam: Love 'Grandma'. But many of these famous Christmas carols were written by renowned composers. ('Joy To The World' is apparently inspired by Handel.) Also, "Oh Holy Night" was written by Adolphe Charles Adam, the French composer best known for his ballets 'Giselle' and 'Le corsaire.' One of the English verses expresses an apparent anti-slavery sentiment. It was written by a the American musical critic John Sullivan Dwight, who translated it from the original French poem. Its English version is: "Chains He shall break for the slave is our brother -- and in His name all oppression shall cease...."
