A car accident closed South 12th Street in New Hyde Park at the LIRR Station Saturday afternoon.

The New Hyde Park Fire Department closed off the LIRR intersection of South 12th Street and Second Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. when a yellow sports car allegedly drove through a Stop sign at the east side of the intersection and collided with a silver Lexus. The yellow sports car then kept going into a building at the northwest corner as well as a fire hydrant.
