Bites Nearby: Galleria Ristorante

Elegant northern Italian dining a staple on Westbury's Post Avenue for 27 years.

Chef/owner James Mollitor, who was raised in Westbury and did his culinary studies in Paris, took over Galleria in 2010. He has kept the restaurant very much as it was, gradually adding his own touches. He plans to offer a monthly opera night and an occasional wine tasting. Off-premise catering is available.

Offering a warm and inviting with textured sand colored walls and dark wood accents, Galleria has three separate dining areas, with the largest room – which seats 80 – often used for private parties.

Galleria Ristorante – an appealing appetizer was plump artichoke hearts stuffed with crabmeat and topped with a wine sauce and chopped pepper ($14). Hot antipasto for two included shrimp scampi, baked clams and fried calamari ($21). The Galleria chopped salad contained iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, roasted red pepper, red onion, asparagus and mozzarella.
