Black Friday Sales Were Strong In Lake Success

, Victoria's Secret and other stores in the Lake Success Shopping Center had a good number of sales on Black Friday, Nov. 26.

Modells sales were up 20% over last year's Black Friday sales, said manager Lori B. The store had long lines both upstairs and downstairs, but Lori timed these lines and said that no customer waited longer than eight minutes.

What made for this vast crowd at the store? The top two items purchased were Timberland boots and Russell fleeces, Lori said. The store was open from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. that day and among their other sales, there were also 33 percent off coupons that could be applied to one item.

Victoria's Secret did the majority of their sales within the first two hours, according to supervisor Vidya Sookhai. The store had a promotion giving customers who spent over $60 a free tote; those totes were gone before noon.

Victoria's Secret had a buy one bra get the second half off sale. Sookhai said the store was very busy in the morning and then the early afternoon was a little bit slower, but that the crowd picked up again after 4 p.m.

FYE was another store that saw "very good" crowds, according to assistant manager Mark. He noted that a lot of sales were in game systems such as Kinect for the XBox 360 and Move for the Playstation. Another popular item was the family fun pack, which includes 18 items for the Wii such as tennis rackets and a baseball bat, which sold for about $18.

This store was open from 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and had gift card promotions such as giving a $5 gift card to people who spent $30 and a $10 gift card for those who spent $50. FYE also had some DVDs for $4.99 and $6.99. One item that sold out on Black Friday was the latest Lloyd Banks CD, which came out earlier that week.
