Black Friday Shoppers Thankful For Efficient Service

Afternoon shoppers at the Lake Success Shopping Center experienced long lines that didn't require equally long waits.

One thing that the Black Friday shoppers at the Lake Success Shopping Center were thankful for was efficiency.

Though the parking lot was pretty consistently full from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 26 and the lines in some stores ran from the front of the store all the way to the back, shoppers said that they were able to make their purchases relatively quickly.

"It's not that busy and I'm glad that I didn't have to get up early," said Brian Butler of Bayside.

Butler was shopping with friend Joe Gruich, also of Bayside, who said that both Game Stop and Modells had lines spanning the length of the store. Gruich added that he was able to go to the front of the line pretty quickly though.

Another out-of-towner, Deborah Levi of Melbourne, Florida, explained that she had been shopping in Florida this morning before she hopped a plane to New York, which landed around noon, and continued her shopping at Lake Success. She also shopped in Modells and said the crowds were worse in Florida.

Mike, owner of the , said this Black Friday was a little hectic but about as busy as previous Black Fridays. His store experienced additional business that day.

"The busier the shopping center is, the more people come in," he said.

The Wine & Liquor store did not participate in some of the early openings, such as midnight opening at , in part because legally the store can't open before about 8:30 a.m.

A Bagel Boss employee, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he thought this was a little slower than normal. He noted though that the parking lot was really congested with a high volume of cars and that he called security regarding the parking situation.
