Iavarone Bros., New York’s highly regarded European-style gourmet markets which pioneered the Long Island retail scene for quality prepared foods, celebrates 20 years on the Island with a four-store* sale from Thursday, June 9 for one week and a complimentary barbecue at the Wantagh location on Saturday, June 11 from 12 to 3 p.m. The June timing coincides with breaking ground for an expansion of the Woodbury market.

To thank its loyal customers, Iavarone Bros. will offer special prices on over a dozen popular items including:

-All-natural whole Bell & Evans chickens $1.49 per pound
-USDA Black Angus boneless New York strip steak $9.99 per pound
-Imported Norwegian Jarlsberg $3.99 per pound
-Iavarone Bros. San Gennaro style sausage and peppers $4.99 per pound
-Sugar sweet seedless watermelon $0.39 per pound
-Iavarone Bros. own six-star quality balsamic vinegar $1.99

The complimentary barbecue in Wantagh includes: skewers of steak, and, chicken with sesame teriyaki and fresh mango chutney; sausage and pepper sliders; and freshly made pasta salad.

Says Pat Iavarone, CEO, Iavarone Bros., “Our family brought to Long Islanders the concept of quality prepared foods, made to traditional recipes and available in the fraction of the time it would take them to cook. This shopping experience has been a real plus for those who work. They want to come home to a delicious home-styled meal they can trust to be enjoyable. It allows them to spend precious time with their families around the table rather than in the kitchen.”

Before 1991, when the Iavarones came from Maspeth, Queens, to New Hyde Park, and since the family business was established in 1919, it was known as a top Italian pork store. Iavarone Bros. remains famous for its meats, sausage and imported delicacies but also new services.

“A good many who shop at Iavarone Bros. are also cooking enthusiasts. Having a broad selection of the best and freshest ingredients is essential to them. So on a daily basis, we started sourcing only the best fish and seafood, presenting seasonal produce beautifully, and, baking on the premises. Every morning we prepare more than 100 house-made entrees, using the finest ingredients, not just in New Hyde Park but Wantagh and Woodbury too,” adds Iavarone.

Looking ahead, Iavarone Bros. continues its commitment to customers’ shopping experience. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary is the start of the Woodbury market’s expansion to add 3400-square-feet to the existing 6200 by autumn. More room is being made for increasing popular fresh produce, a catering office for the growing number of party orders and a new juice bar.
