Inn at New Hyde Park Celebrates Same-Sex Weddings

The Inn became a place for newly-married same-sex couples to rejoice.

After got married at office on Sunday morning, they came to the , a place they've frequented, to celebrate.

The , the restaurant in the Inn, was offering specials on both Sunday and Monday for newly-married same-sex couples.

At the restaurant, there were platters of food and yellow roses on the table for Adelman and Scarcella's party of about 10 people, Brasserie employee Victoria Curran noted. The couple, who have been together for about 36 years, took photos out in the garden as well as near the Inn's fireplace, Curran added.

"They wanted to come to a friendly place to celebrate," Curran said.

Adelman and Scarcella had a homemade Croatian cake done by the , Curran said.

Scarcella and Adelman were one of two couples who came in on Sunday to celebrate. Two additional couples came into the restaurant on Monday to celebrate.

The Inn had Reverend Debra Viola on hand to officiate weddings on Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., although people came solely for the food on Monday. Despite that, Viola is excited about same-sex marriage being legalized.

"I think everyone should have the same rights as everyone else," Viola said, adding, "It's a no brainer."

Said Janine Sakowich Krafchin, general manager of the Inn, of same-sex marriage, "This is an exciting and historic time that represents equality.  The Inn is a place where all people are welcomed. We will continue to provide memorable, extraordinary weddings for all."
