Job Hunting at Hillside Public Library

The library had a job fair on Wednesday.

About 350 job seekers from around the area descended upon the Wednesday afternoon in the hopes of finding employment.

There were more than a dozen companies from Bloomingdale's to with human resources representatives at the fair looking for potential new hires.

Gayle Iandoli, human resources recruiter at , said about 150 people came by her table, some of whom had previous banking experience. While the company currently does not have openings in its New Hyde Park location, Iandoli said, there is manager position available, according to the company's website.

Xiomara Tirado, who has attended some of the library's workshops, came to the job fair looking for an administrative assistant position. She noted that this job fair had more options than one she previously attended in Queens.

For a Garden City man at the job fair, he wasn't sure how helpful this job fair would be. He previously worked on the buy- and sell-side but is now looking into a career change. His goal is to find a job with a stable pension and to be able to retire someday.
