Sarah’s Salon, the new hair and beauty parlor on Jericho Turnpike, has opened to rave reviews and strong support from community members. Offering everything from haircuts, manicures and pedicures to skincare, facials and makeup, the full-service salon is quickly establishing itself as a go-to place in the neighborhood.
“It’s been great," said Owner Sarah Singh. "We’re already getting repeat customers and we’re starting to realize how strong of an impact we’re having."
Perhaps a factor in the salon’s popularity is their affordable prices. As part of their grand opening specials, manicures and pedicures cost $20, while haircuts go for about $15. Waxing prices range from $5 for eyebrows to $35 for a Brazilian. The salon also offers packages for special occasions such as weddings.
“I love it there; it’s really nice and very welcoming,” said customer , who owns the bakery next door to the salon and now makes weekly trips to Sarah’s. “There’s not a place like hers around. It’s not only convenient, but they’re very reasonably priced and they do a good job.”
First-time customer Jane Van, a resident of New Hyde Park for over 30 years, also agrees.
“So far, it’s been excellent,” she said as she sat in the hairdresser’s chair. “Everyone’s friendly, there’s nice conversation and all-in-all, it’s great."
The salon will have its official grand opening with the Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce on July 30 at 11 a.m.
Customers should expect to see a slight increase in prices in mid-July. Some, however, don't seem to mind this.
"I found my new hair parlor," said Van. "This is where I'm coming from now on."
