Organic Company to Expand to Lake Success Location

Hain Celestial Group to relocate to Lake Success and create 100 jobs over next 10 years.

The Hain Celestial Group, a provider of natural and organic products, says it will expand its international corporate headquarters in Lake Success and add 100 new jobs during the next decade.

The company, which currenlty has offices in Melville, plans to relocate 250 of its employees to new, leased office space in Lake Success, which Newsday described as 86,104 square feet at 1111 Marcus Ave. and once home to the United Nations.

Thanks to tax incentives through the State of New York via Empire State Development and the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency, Hain Celestial has committed to investing $10 million as part of its relocation and operation expansion.

“It’s a great day when government can help save and create private sector jobs, as well as assist in economic development projects that benefit the local community,” Nassau Executive Ed Mangano said in a statement. “With final approval from the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency, this agreement will ensure that Nassau County helps save and create hundreds of good-paying local jobs.”

“The expansion of Hain Celestial means an industry-leading business and almost 400 jobs will stay right where they belong on Long Island,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement.

Hain Celestial was founded almost 20 years ago by Irwin D. Simon, the company's president and chief executive. By 2001, the company reported more than $400 million in sales.

For 2011, the company reported wordwide sales of $1.1 billion.

“As a proud resident New Yorker, I am pleased to be increasing our commitment to the region with the expansion of our international headquarters complete with state-of-the art sustainable features,” Simon, who is also President and CEO of the company, said. “The design and layout of our new facility will provide us with a nurturing environment to foster the next level of growth for the company. Our new in-house research and development capability will create products that will be sold all over the world.”
