Pet Spa, Boutique Gives Luxurious Experience

The Luxury Pet Spa and Boutique gives pets the high-end experience in grooming and shopping.

The Luxury Pet Spa and Boutique gives pets the high-end experience in grooming and shopping.

With services like massages, facials, hair dying and nail painting, the spa allows pets to be pampered and primped just like a woman on a spa day.

Meanwhile, the boutique portion of the facility serves as an upscale pet shop. Decorated with gilded framed pictures of dogs, plush velvet seats and glass cases, the store gives customers the chance to browse through brand-name pet beds, carrier bags, leashes, and apparel.

“People seem to like our location because it’s different," said Owner Michelle Brice of Manhattan. "We carry things that other people don’t have. There’s a lot of grooming shops around but not many of them offer the services and care that we do.”

Grooming prices start at $40 for small dogs. The costs are based primarily on the size and upkeep of the pet, not on the breed.

Brice is the only one who actually grooms the animals, although employees are trained on how to properly bathe and care for them as well.

“I do whatever needs to be done for the animal,” Brice said, who says most of her clients are dog owners. “I have a consultation with the owners and we discuss what the best treatment for the dog would be and then we go from there.”

Fran Cilia of New Hyde Park has been bringing her four-and-a-half-year-old cockapoo, Madison, to the spa since it opened.

“Michelle does such an excellent job and my dog loves her,” she said. “Madison actually starts wagging her tail when we pull up to the store.”

Brice has established a loyal client base outside of the neighborhood as well.

“I bring both of my dogs to Michelle,” said Cawanna Marbra of Harlem, who has a shih tzu and a chihuaha. “I went to other places that were closer to me but they just didn’t work. Michelle does an amazing job and after they go to her, my dogs smell good for weeks.”
