Photo Of the Day: Two Steak & Sushi Den Shuts Doors

The space will reopen in a few months as a casual Mexican restaurant.

Newsday reported that Two Steak & Sushi Den, which opened in March of 2010, has closed its doors, but will reopen in February as a casual Mexican Restaurant.

served 450 dinners and 900 people for cocktails on New Year’s Eve before shutting down. According to partner Jay Grossman, the new venture will offer “food and cocktails that are accessible to everyone. It won’t be a special occasion place — the point is to resonate with everyday guests.”

Grossman said that he and chef-partner James McDevitt streamlined the original menu and tried to harness prices, but the restaurant never really found its audience.

Grossman was approached by an investment group a few months ago that wanted to put together a fun, casual concept, but using Two Steak & Sushi Den as the location.

How do you feel about the restaurant closing? Let us know in the comments.

Ate there after receiving a gift certificate. Always wanted to return. Was amazing menu--steak, sushi, thai, lots of fish, stews, amazing desserts. And, with all the offerings, everything was delicious. Very pricey, but the bar area was amazing and it surely was a "special occasion" place. A shame. Such a difficult business to be in.

Ate at Two several times a month. Delicious sushi and sashimi. Friendly and caring staff, especially Anthony, Josh, Danni and Lance. I will really miss this restaurant. I hope to see the same staff at the new restaurant.

Looked interesting, but c'mon ... Prices were a little ridiculous ! Yes, try again to present a menu that is a bit more "accessible" ( as you term it) to the "common man" hardworking Long Islanders!' try again guys!
