Vacant Former Prince Carpet & Floors Showroom

What would you like to see at the large Jericho Turnpike location in Garden City Park?

is a long-standing company that is known for doing floor work on everything from offices to residential buildings. And though the now-Plainview based company used to operate out of Garden City Park, its former Jericho Turnpike location is currently closed and still for sale or lease.

The owner has not set a definite asking price and is still looking for offers. The property is a large free-standing building, taking up 20,550 square feet on .8 acres of land. The space also includes a 30-car parking lot on premise.

The location is in a high traffic area, sitting on the north side of Jericho Turnpike right near the intersection with Denton Avenue. The building itself is also very tall for a one-story building, so it would probably be best to have some sort of warehouse or showroom featured.

The question for Patch readers is what would you like to see there? A home
improvement store, like before? Or something different entirely?

Patch will regularly spotlight vacant commercial properties in effort to initiate a discussion within the community about alternative uses for these abandoned places. If you’d like to know more about a specific property, please also comment below.

Restaurants are the only thing that seems to survive in this economy, because we have to eat and if a restaurant his moderate prices they will do well.
But not too many people have expendable, discretionary cash for extras today, so even though I would like to see something other than a restaurant, I don't know how well it will fare

If they put another restaurant, it should be something unique, affordable offering "home-cooked" type foods where customers would pay according to items chosen and NOT "all you can eat". My suggestion would be a cafeteria style restaurant offering fresh-carved meats, 2 or 3 veggie choices (seasonal and without tons of added salt) and salad , potato and/or rice. NO "salad bar"; patrons would not handle the food. Something along the lines of what Morrison's was in the south.

I always like Charlie Browns and The Sizzler type of restaurants. They were reasonable and had a salad bar that we all enjoyed. Just don`t come around 5 PM otherwise you`ll have a 45 min. to an hr. wait. The only drawback is no parking.
