Here are some of the events happening around New Hyde Park.

It is the first day of December! Can you believe it?

Here’s what you need to know today:

1. Yesterday evening was the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Rockefeller Center. Did you watch it? Let us know in our question of the day poll, which will be up on the site at 9 a.m.

2. As every Thursday, be sure to check out Lyn Dobrin’s latest Bite Nearby at 5 p.m. She has a delicious treat in store for you to try!

3. The Long Island Children’s Museum is offering a (with museum admission) called “Waving in a Winter Wonderland.” Using a variety of fun materials, children and adults can learn how to make a “hand” made whimsical tree.

4. As part of the , a special presentation of the film Hot Coffee will be presented as the last film in the film series. The film begins at 7:30pm. Entry is 7:00pm for subscribers, 7:15 for ticket holders. Each screening has a Q&A with a notable personality after the film. Don’t miss out!
