Jan. 17: MLK Day Closures and LIRR Schedule

This Monday is Martin Luther King Day honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was instrumental in the fight for civil rights in the U.S. Here are the events and changes that are occurring on Monday.

1. The will be operating on a holiday schedule on Monday. There are 37 additional trains to and from Pennsylvania Station on all of the lines. The extra trains on the Port Jefferson line, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's website, include these westbound trains:

• Departing Hicksville 5:47 a.m., stopping at Jamaica, Woodside, arriving in Penn Station at 6:29 a.m.
• Departing Huntington 5:42 a.m., making all local stops to Jamaica, arriving in Penn Station at 6:48 a.m.
• Departing Hicksville 6:47 a.m., stopping at Jamaica, Woodside, arriving in Penn Station at 7:28 a.m.
• Departing Huntington 7:30 a.m., stopping at Jamaica, arriving in Penn Station at 8:15 a.m.
• Departing Hicksville 7:45 a.m., stopping at Jamaica, Woodside, arriving in Penn Station at 8:28 a.m.
• Departing Hicksville 8:47 AM, stopping at Jamaica, Woodside, arriving in Penn Station at 9:30 a.m.

These are the additional eastbound trains:

• Departing Penn Station at 3:35 p.m., stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, then Hicksville at 4:19 p.m.
• Departing Penn Station at 4:35 p.m., stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, then Hicksville at 5:19 p.m.
• Departing Penn Station at 5:07 p.m., stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, then all local stops to Huntington at 6:13 p.m.
• Departing Penn Station at 5:35 p.m., stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, then Hicksville at 6:19 p.m.
• Departing Penn Station at 6:07 p.m., stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, then all local stops to Huntington at 7:13 p.m.
• Departing Penn Station at 6:35 p.m., stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, then Hicksville at 7:19 p.m.
