Update: More Than 2,000 People in ToNH Shelters

These people are in the 20 shelters across the Town of North Hempstead.

There are 2,549 people so far in the 20 shelters throughout the , according to Town spokesman Collin Nash. The Town's shelters include ones at , and in Port Washington.

Ten members of New Hyde Park High's helped to set up the school's shelter in the gym Saturday morning.

Update: According to the Red Cross and Town of North Hempstead, 50 people stayed in New Hyde Park High, 254 were at Screiber and 31 were at Mineola High School as of a count done at 11 p.m. Saturday night.
