Nov. 17: Smoking Law and Crafts

Here are some events happening around New Hyde Park.

1. Be sure to take part in our poll regarding the , which prohibits smoking on all LIRR and Metro-North commuter lines. The poll will be up around 10 a.m.

2. Patch visited the to see what commuters are saying about the new smoking ban. Check back later for that story.  

3. The Long Island Children’s Museum is holding a class on making for Thanksgiving. Children and adults will learn how to make a personalized pilgrim napkin holder, a perfect decoration for the holiday. The price is $11 for adults and children over one-year-old. 4. The Board of Education meeting date has been rescheduled for Nov. 22 at 7:15 p.m. Only “Routine Business” will be on the agenda and there will be no presentations or discussion of the 2012-2013 budget. The meeting is anticipated to be very short.

5. Love jewelry? The Hillside Public Library is hosting an adult craft on making beaded necklaces at 6:30 p.m. Instructor Susan Bourie teaches an original design featuring silver-gray beads and a looped beaded pendant. Cost is $5. Call 516 355-7850 for availability.
