Nov. 18-20: Weekend Edition

Happy Friday! There are a bunch of events going on around New Hyde Park for you to enjoy this weekend.

1. Take some time your afternoon today and enjoy a screening of Cinderella Man, the 2005 drama about a washed up boxer and common-man hero during the Great Depression and his fight to save the family he loves. The film is directed by Ron Howard, the movie stars Russell Crowe and Renee Zellweger. Movie starts at 1:30 p.m. at the .

2. If your kids are itching to try something new, Zumba may be the perfect scratch. will be having a Zumba class for kids over age 11 and adults tonight at 6:30 p.m. There will also be another class on Nov. 20 at 12:00 p.m. Find more information here.

3. Looking for the perfect gift for someone this holiday season? is hosting their annual Thanksgiving/Christmas fair on Nov. 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Gifts include hand-crafted items, tools, women’s clothing, jewelry and home-baked goods.

4. Temple Tikvah will be having a special on Nov. 20 at 4:00 p.m. The entire community is welcomed to join along with many other faith communities from Nassau and Queens. Refreshments and ethnic treats will be served after the service.

5. Also on Nov. 20, Christ Lutheran Church will be having a Novemberfest in celebration of their 65th anniversary. German food will be served along with “Oktoberfest-like” fun and games from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
