Congratulations to Bishop Coyle

Last week I had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. for a very special occasion, one that has given our area a tremendous source of pride.

Monsignor Robert Coyle, who has served faithfully at the Corpus Church in Mineola, was elevated to Bishop of the Diocese of the Military and was ordained at the Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. I was honored to have gone along with my wife as well as mom and dad to witness this historic occasion.

Bishop Coyle has been a big part of the Mineola community as the leader of the Corpus Christi family and I can’t think of a better person for the role of providing members of our Armed Forces with spiritual service.

Being in Washington, D.C. allowed me the opportunity to congratulate Bishop Coyle as well as see many good friends who also made the trip including John Davanzo and Dennis Walsh, who now serves as a trustee for the Village of Mineola, and his wife Barbara.

Just yesterday, I had the opportunity to wish Bishop Coyle well at his final mass at Corpus Christi. Although he will be missed, we can take comfort in the fact that he will be serving the men and women of our Armed Forces. It would be difficult to think of a more worthy calling.

May God bless Bishop Coyle and all of those who serve around the world to protect our freedom.
