New Hyde Park Resident Has Shot at ‘Million Dollar Makeover’

Pat Pilla among three finalists for Macy's nationwide competition.

A New Hyde Park resident has the chance to make her dreams reality as part of a “Million Dollar Makeover” from Macy’s department store.

Pat Pilla is one of three finalists in the competition, which solicited applications in January from entrepreneurs “make their professional dreams a reality with the guidance of mentors in the area of fashion, food or home,” according to a release.

Applicants submitted either a short video or essay and photos about their professional goals and aspirations in one of the highlighted areas of fashion, food or home.

According to the release, Pilla is “a self-professed foodie (who) wants to bring her love of sweets to the masses in the form of portion-controlled, all natural, but still delicious “Chee’Bonnets” cheesecake balls. After losing more than 200 pounds with the help of her supportive family, Pat is full of energy and ready to share her knowledge of healthy living with America.”

The other contestants include an Army wife from Florida and a furniture designer from San Francisco.

The winner will be announced on April 17 on TLC with special appearances from three celebrity judges: Tommy Hilfiger, Martha Stewart and Marcus Samuelsson, who will select the ultimate winner of $1 million.
